A heritage of faith, family, & farming

The Tallcott farm, just outside of Mendon, IL, has been in the family since Chester Tallcott purchased it in 1831. Chester built “the Home Place” in 1856, where his great-great-grandson, Wayne Tallcott and his wife Deb, currently reside. Wayne and Deb are the 5th generation of Tallcotts to live in the Home Place. The farm has never left the family, and Lord willing, never will. The commitment the Tallcotts have to the farm and its rich history is as strong as any farm family you will find.

The Home Place

Over the years, the farm has been home to multiple breeds of hogs, cattle, and even some chickens. In 1990, the operation discontinued the raising of hogs to focus solely on cattle and row crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat. In 2014, Wayne and his son Adam began plans to take on a new level of commitment to the cattle side of the farming operation. With a few regular customers that preferred to buy beef right from the Tallcott’s farm, Wayne and Adam decided there may be a larger market for their beef than they had ever realized.

In 2016, they developed a website to provide information to the public on their beef production to help raise awareness and educate the public regarding the safe and sustainable methods of raising cattle that the Tallcotts have implemented for decades. Shortly thereafter, they added an ordering option to the website for people to place orders for farm fresh beef.

Throughout the generations, a high level of attention and care for the farm animals has been ingrained in the minds of the Tallcotts and passed down from one generation to the next. It is well understood that without the proper care, their livelihood would be in jeopardy. With that in mind, only the utmost care and commitment has ever been shown to the cattle on the Tallcott farm.
